The Unical Revolution

Here we will breakdown into eight parts what we propose as a revolutionary breakthrough in calcium supplements that will change peoples lives from this day forward.

1. Unical® Calcium-The Highest ionisation in gastric juice.

Calcium compounds themselves cannot be absorbed into the intestine wall. They must be in ionised form in order to be absorbed into the intestine and then into the bloodstream and body tissues. 2. The Highest Absorption Rate in the Intestine

Whereas protein and fat can be decomposed by digestive enzymes in the stomach and are smoothly absorbed by the intestines, calcium must overcome the hurdle of the intestinal tract to be absorbed. This must be done in order for bone and blood to receive the necessary nutrition. Until now this proved to be the stumbling block that various kinds of calcium failed to overcome. Unical® Calcium however is different; results through experiment have proven that Unical® Calcium has the highest absorption rate of any other calcium in the intestine as the graph below demonstrates.

3. The Essence of Shark Wing Extract

Using the essence of shark wing (mucopolysaccharide) as one ingredient, Unical® Calcium ca-citrate offers the highest absorption rate in the small intestine. (Japan patent No. 3131385, USA, patent No. 623827, China patent No.ZL96195883.9)

This unique mucopolysaccharide enhances the binding between the Calibindin D9K (which is synthesised in the cell of the small intestine wall) and the ionic calcium, thus rapidly enhancing its movement through the cytosolic compartment (IAM Efficiency). Then, with the highest absorption and clinical efficiency the Ca pump extrudes the ionic calcium across the wall membrane and guides the ionic calcium to the tissue cells (Fig 1). Therefore, high absorption and the prior expected results can be realised.

4. Increasing Bone Density in the Aged with Osteoporosis (Daily intake 600mg Unical CA)

The transport of calcium in the stomach decreases with ageing resulting in the reduction of bone density. Until now, it has been common knowledge, that people in old age cannot be expected to build bone because of the decrease in the absorption ratio of calcium. However, Unical® Calcium has found a way to dispel this previously believed fact as a mere myth. In clinical trials, Unical when people on standard diets were given an additional daily intake of 600 mg of Unical calcium for four months an increase in bone density could be observed.

5. Absorbable independent of Vitamin D

Osteoporosis in the Aged: Additional clinical testing was conducted with aged patients to quantify effectiveness in treating osteoporosis. Patients with an average age of 73.4 years were given 200mg doses of UNICAL® Calcium administered orally three times daily. The study determined that over a sixteen-week period while supplementing diet with the normal daily dose of 600mg of UNICAL® Calcium, actual bone density in vivo increased an average of +5.10%. Internal bone structure and trabecular density especially increased. Bone mineral analysis was performed using dual x-ray absorptiometry. Hormonal therapy results in the same study revealed a -0.17% decrease, and the control group lost -2.22% of bone mass density. Clearly, UNICAL® Calcium is effective for the treatment of osteoporosis.
The above results also suggest that UNICAL® Calcium is virtually 100% absorbed in vivo, contributing to outstanding bone recovery. These results were obtained without supplementing the diet with vitamin D. With age, the absorption rate of calcium decreases as it depends on the synthesizing activity of activated vitamin D in the kidneys, particularly in cases of osteoporosis. The result of the clinical trials demonstrated significant incremental bone increase using UNICAL® Calcium independent of vitamin D, obviating the need for this additional supplement.

6. Tasty and provided in optimal amounts for most effective results

Unical Calcium was first unveiled in August 1997 at a Calcium Conference in Dalian, China. In 1998, in Phoenix, Arizona, USA at a Health Food Exhibition ‘Unical Calcium’ was introduced. At that exhibition, Unical Calcium was given to a Chinese researcher and an American consumer. They were both surprised at its clean lemon taste, its easiness to eat and both agreed that it would be accepted by consumers worldwide.
As you can see in data contained in Table 4 below, conditions had to be set to establish efficient conditions for the effective intake of calcium.

Until recently, the content of calcium seldom attracted attention. In fact, also people often have often misunderstood thinking large amounts of calcium at low prices could be effective. It was found through experimentation that the optimum single intake of calcium to realize the highest rate of ionization was 200 mg.

Since the beginning, it has been known that calcium exists in an ionized state. In Greek,
‘ion’ means to move. Ionized Calcium is a constantly moving, unstable substance which the semantics of the expression tries to show. Therefore, when we consider it being taken in combination with other compounds, for example, if ionized calcium is combined with citric acid it becomes calcium citrate, if it is combined with carbonic acid, it becomes calcium carbonate and if it is combined with lactic acid, it becomes calcium lactate. Thus for the calcium to be absorbed by the body, it must be separated from the other compounds and returned an ionized state. In order to absorb the calcium a means to ease absorption is necessary. It was found that in the case of 200 mg of calcium Unical Calcium had the highest absorption at almost a rate of 100%.

7. Safety in excessive intake

Even is the intake of Unical® Calcium exceeds the daily recommended dose of at least 400 mg, it is safe since the excess is removed from the body or accumulated in the bone. On the contrary however, we do have to be concerned with a lack of a daily intake of calcium due to the secretion of the parathyroid hormone which solubilizes the calcium in the bone.
